Divisional Secretariat - Maspotha

 

 

 

The boundaries surrounding the Maspotha Divisional Secretariat region, of the Kudagalboda Korala region in the Kurunegala district are; Dewamedi Koralaya in the North Walgampaththu Koralaya in the South, Mahagalboda Megoda North and South Koralas, Kurunegala and Mallawapitiya Divisional Secretariats, and the Yakdessagala mountain range in the East, and  Medagam Dahaya Koralaya and the Maguru River in the West.

 

The Division  is spread covering an area  of 58 Km of Land. 53 serene villages are within the Division that belong to 33 Grama Niladhari Regions. The population is limited to 36949 individuals out of which 2486 families are Samurdhi beneficiaries.

 

The Division is multinational with Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, Burghar nationalaties living unitedly, and the majority are followers of Buddhism. All nationalities living in the area have contributed themselves acting towards preserving the unique Sri Lankan heritage

 

The major livelihood is agricultural  based, with cultivations made with the Yala-Maha Monsoon seasons and the irrigation systems including lakes and ponds, springs etc.

The falklore based on the historic sites of the Ganegoda Sanweli Rajamaha Vharaya and the Edandawala Viharaya dates back to the arrival of king Wijaya which has raised a significant importance of the division of Maspotha. Many state and private sector institutes established in the area has contributed towards the growth in the life style in the region hand-in-hand with the agricultural sector even though it is the main economic provider of the region situated withing the close proximity of the Kurunegala metropolitan area, the Maspotha Division is rapidly heading towards urbanization which includes popular schools, civil facilities, etcin the modern time.

It has 33 grama niladhari divisions
